Self-guided visits
The galleries at the Yorkshire Museum span millions of years of history, from the Jurassic period to Medieval York.
The Yorkshire Museum is open for primary and secondary schools to visit from 10am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Prices
here are no entry fees for primary and secondary (Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four) school groups who are making a self-guided visit from a school in North Yorkshire. This excludes fee paying schools.
For all other schools, the following entry fees apply:
School child: £3.00
Additional adult in excess of free adult to pupil ratio: £6.00
Home educating families can visit the Yorkshire Museum at our reduced school rates. These rates are only available for visits made in term time during school hours. All visits must be booked in advanced.

Booking a visit
Schools can book a self-guided visit to the Yorkshire Museum using our online booking form.
Please note that completing the form does not represent a confirmed booking. A member of our team will be in touch within two days with further information.

Discovery Boxes
Groups can book our free Discovery Box resources when making a self-guided visit to the Yorkshire Museum. The contain information packs and activities to help children get the most out of their museum visit.

Free teacher pre-visits
We encourage teachers to carry out a free pre-visit to familiarise themselves with the Yorkshire Museum before they come with their class.
Teachers are entitled to bring up to one additional adult and two children as part of a free pre-visit.
