Test your building skills or just have fun and create your own Roman dwelling or Museum in a safe Minecraft plot world.

Join us on a special Minecraft server that features a giant Ryedale Roman recreation from the object scans.

We are bringing the Ryedale Roman Hoard to life in Minecraft. We have created an online server that can be accessed in Minecraft on Both Java and Bedrock versions. Test your building skills or just have fun and create your own Roman dwelling or Museum in a safe Minecraft plot world.

But how do I connect to an online Minecraft world?

For those that know what to do the IP address for the custom Server is romanryedalehoard.aeva.co

Please note the IP address will only work in Minecraft and not a web browser.

We have a handy video to watch or you can read the instructions below:

To access the server you will need a Bedrock or Java version of Minecraft on a PC or Tablet.

Let’s begin with the Bedrock version

  1. Bedrock is the version with a marketplace button on the start screen. Also, make sure you can access online services, you may need to sign into you xbox live account to do this.
  2. From the start screen press, the play button and you will see three tabs at the top of the screen.
  3. Head to the servers tab and scroll down to the bottom, there you can add a server. Unfortunately, you cannot do this with the console version! Just iPad tablet and PC.
  4. In the server add box add the name of the server, this can be anything you want!
  5. Then type romanryedalehoard.aeva.co in the IP box.
  6. Keep the default port the same and press play and you have accessed the server!

You can revisit as often as you like for the next couple of months.

To connect with a Java version you need a particular installation version of Minecraft – 1.18.2

Doing this is fairly simple!

  1. Go to the installation tab
  2. Click new installation
  3. Name it “roman server”
  4. Then click and scroll down until you see 1.18.2. Use that and you’re done, press create.
  5. Then start Minecraft in that version using the dropdown menu on the left. You can also use this when you need to play the latest version afterwards. Start Minecraft by pressing play.
  6. Click on Multiplayer and then add server
  7. Just like in bedrock type  romanryedalehoard.aeva.co and add the new server. You will see it listed and then you can join.
  8. You will visit a plot world server and be auto-assign and new plot where you can creatively build. Add a colour flag there to remind you where it is and then explore the build

We have turned all chat off to make it super safe for everyone who visits – this includes teleport commands – so remembering where your plot is important – each has a name on it like this.

Thanks for visiting and we hope you are inspired to create amazing Minecraft builds!
