Celebrate Viking history at the Yorkshire Museum this February Half-Term. Get involved in a family-friendly programme of artist-led workshops, self-led creative activities and interactive performances, inspired by the highly acclaimed Viking North exhibition and JORVIK’s renowned Viking Festival.

Meet me at the Yorkshire Museum: Viking Winter Camp
Tuesday 17 February and Friday 20 February 2026

Join History Riot for an interactive storytelling experience. You’ll meet characters from the Viking winter camp and discover highlights of the Viking North exhibition through stories, music, games and laughter.
Creative Families

Suitable for all ages | Drop-in, included in general admission
Get hands-on in an artist-led creative workshop inspired by the Viking North exhibition. Be inspired by the amazing collection of Viking vessels on display and make your own clay coil pot.

Object Encounter

Get hands-on in the Viking North exhibition as you encounter replicas of Viking objects, kindly lent to us by York Archaeological Trust, available to handle on-gallery.

All activities, performances and talks at the Yorkshire Museum are included in your general admission ticket, as well as giving access to thousands of years of Yorkshire’s history through astounding artefacts and extraordinary exhibits. It’s your last chance to see Star Carr: Life After Ice before it closes on Sunday 19 April, don’t miss it!
General admission tickets last 12 months and allow unlimited free entry to the Yorkshire Museum for 12 months, meaning you can visit now and return throughout the year! Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the admissions desk on the day.
Please note, the museum is closed as usual on Mondays.
