Welcome to the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens' schools pages.
Our museum has exhibitions on Roman, Viking and Medieval life and a display of fossils in our Hunters and Hunted gallery. Outside the Museum Gardens contain a Roman Tower and the remains of the medieval St Mary's Abbey. We also have a programme of special exhibitions - click here to find out more.
We have two learning rooms, The Curia and The Lab, which are both well-equipped to support school workshops.
We offer discounts for school group bookings - for more information, click on Making a Visit in the menu on the left.
A range of bookable education workshops support Early Years, Key Stage 1 & 2 and Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils. To find out more, click on Workshop Programme on the menu on the left.
We also offer museum trails to use during self-guided visits, which are available by clicking on Downloadable Resources on the menu to the left.
We also run free Meet the Curator professional development sessions for teachers. During 2007/8 sessions will be available on art, during the autumn term, at York Art Gallery, on science, during the spring term, at the Yorkshire Museum and on history, during the summer term,at York Castle Museum.
Meet the Curator - Natural History at the Yorkshire Museum

Teachers of all Key Stages are invited to visit the museum to meet Christine Beckton, our assistant curator for science learning, and Pip Strang, our assistant curator of biology. Enjoy a guided tour around our Aliens exhibition, see specimens from behind the scenes and handle objects not usually on show.
